The aim of the trivia night, held at the Goroke Golf Club on November 3, was to promote awareness of mental health for young people within the community.

The VCAL students planned and hosted the event to raise funds for headspace, the National Youth Mental Health Foundation that provides early intervention mental health services for young people aged 12-25.

Emma Hynes, community development and youth engagement officer from headspace Horsham, attended the fundraising event and presented information to the Goroke community about headspace Horsham services.

Ms Hynes provided information on how to get support and about the new team and facility.

The VCAL students invited Ms Hynes back to Goroke P-12 College following the event, to receive the donation raised by the students.

Ms Hynes responded that “headspace Horsham is extremely grateful for the generosity of the Goroke community to dig deep and donate this money to our centre.

“The funds will go towards activities and resources for young people who access headspace and the Youth Reference Group.”
