headspace Horsham Chill Out Night

headspace Horsham has invited young people to join them for a Chill Out evening to celebrate national headspace Day on October 9.

headspace Day is a nation-wide opportunity to support the one in every four young Australians who experience a mental health issue each year.

Community Development & Youth Engagement Officer Emma Hynes said headspace Horsham was thrilled to be a part of the celebrations which will kick off at 77 Hamilton Street from 5.30pm.

“The Chill Out event is just a very casual open evening for people aged 12 to 25 to come in and check out our new space, meet some of the staff and other young people involved in the centre,” she said. “We’ll have some live music, games and some great food to share.”

As part of the national campaign, headspace is asking all Australians to share what they do to look after their mental health.

Miss Hynes said it was easy to get involved, even if the Chill Out event didn’t suit.

“Young people can visit headspaceday.org.au to download a headspace day placard,” she said. “On October 9, we are encouraging young people to share their personal mental health tip on the placard and hold it up in a photo that can be posted on their social media channels using: #headspaceday

“We’ll also have the placards available during the Chill Out evening which should finish up about 8.30pm.”

Miss Hynes said the event was free but encouraged people to RSVP for catering purposes.

“Just let us know via our Facebook event page or call the centre on 5381 1543,” she said.
